Every Grain Holds a Story—We Keep It Honest

When Winter Calls for Something Gentle

Not all comfort food needs to be heavy.
Some comfort comes softly — warm, nourishing, and easy to digest.

Bajra Raab is one such recipe.
A traditional porridge made with sprouted pearl millet, ghee, and jaggery, it has been a winter staple in many Indian homes — especially for children, elders, and anyone recovering from illness.

Simple ingredients. Slow warmth. Deep nourishment.

🌱 Why Sprouted Bajra?

Bajra (pearl millet) is naturally warming, iron-rich, and grounding.
When sprouted, it becomes even better:

  • easier to digest

  • improved mineral absorption

  • gentler on the gut

  • sustained energy without heaviness

Raab is traditionally given when digestion is weak — because it strengthens without stressing the system.

🥣 Sprouted Bajra Raab Recipe

You’ll need:

  • 2 tbsp Sprouted Bajra Flour

  • 1 tbsp ghee

  • 2 cups water
(or thin buttermilk for a savoury version)

  • 2 tbsp jaggery powder

  • A pinch of dry ginger (saunth)

  • A pinch of cardamom powder

  • Chopped nuts, optional

How to make it:

  1. Heat ghee in a heavy-bottom pan.

  2. Add sprouted bajra flour and roast gently until aromatic and nutty.

  3. Slowly whisk in water to avoid lumps.

  4. Simmer on low heat until it thickens slightly.

  5. Add jaggery, dry ginger, and cardamom. Stir well.

  6. Serve warm, topped with nuts if you like.

🌿 Why This Bowl Works So Well in Winter

  • Ghee lubricates digestion and adds warmth

  • Jaggery provides gentle sweetness and iron

  • Dry ginger improves digestion and circulation

  • Cardamom balances heaviness and adds aroma

This is food that understands the season.

🕯️ When to Enjoy Bajra Raab

  • Cold winter mornings

  • As a light dinner

  • During recovery or low appetite days

  • For children and elders

  • When your gut needs rest, not stimulation
